The Lofts at South Bluffs is the quintessential loft destination in Downtown Memphis. Built in 1909 as the home of the Orgill Brothers & Co. wholesale business, the 505 Tennessee St. address today houses 112 units spread across five floors. Before the building’s conversion into lofts in 2000, it was home to the city’s oldest running business. Orgill Brothers & Co. was founded in 1847 as a hardware distributor, its first Memphis home a brick building at the corner of Front and Monroe streets. The company kept its retail store presence until 1908 when it decided to focus solely on wholesale distribution, opening the Tennessee Street building the following year to serve as its distribution center. Today, Orgill is an international company still based in Memphis, and thanks to an urban loft conversion, you can call its iconic former building home.
Each unit in The Lofts at South Bluffs has its own unique character. Original concrete and hardwood flooring remains, along with exposed brick walls and large, warehouse-style windows.
